Totally redesigned for 2012, the CAAD8 is created from Cannondale's decades of experience with aluminum engineering, to bring a remarkable level of performance for an entry-level road bike. With the lightest frame in it's class by a mile, the Cannondale CAAD8 shares many of the features and tube shapes as the Cannondale CAAD10, and shares them with a slightly more forgiving HeadsUp race geometry. The trademark smooth double-pass welds, compliant SAVE rear stays, efficient chain stays and the unmistakable Cannondale ride-feel make it clear that, rather than being just another aluminum road bike this is something special.
The CAAD8 shares the proven race geometry of it's more expensive counterparts, but has a slightly higher head tube for a more relaxed riding position. The CAAD8s optimized chain stay and seat stay provide rigidity while still giving enough vertical compliance for bump absorption and comfort with no loss in power transfer.
Cannondale's double pass smooth welding technology eliminates the stress-risers and weak points found on traditionally welded frames making the frames lighter and stronger. The head tube is externally machined, (a technique Cannondale has used for years) to remove excess material out of the low stress areas of the head tube saving significant weight with no loss in strength.
